What Is Hypertension? Hypertension is known as the “silent killer”. An estimated ⅓ of US adults don’t even know they have it! Blood vessels harden and narrow as part of lifestyle choices as well as a natural part of aging. As people age, their blood vessels may become less elastic, leading to higher blood pressures.
